What's New in June

June with Vito looks like it's going to be a great time... don't miss out.

The class schedule has been released! It is available here

We have American TANGO on Thursday nights at 8:00!

Really, the Tango needs no introduction. Sleek, beautiful, exotic. It's no wonder it is one of the most popular. Just for fun, I've embedded a few short video clips here. Hope they make you smile.

Here's Al Pacino as the blind Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade dancing the Tango in the 1992 film Scent of a Woman to the b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l Por una Cabeza, originally by the legendary Carlos Gardel. The tune is one of my personal favorites.

Here's one that always makes me LOL. This is Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams and the late Raul Julia as Gomez dancing the Tango in Addams Family Values:

This last clip is Fred and Ginger in a short Tango scene from the 1936 film Swing Time:

Continuity Foxtrot will continue on Thursday evenings in June at 7:00.
Advanced class will continue on Tuesday evenings in June at 8:00.

We will start new patterns in both of the above. If you didn't attend in May but are interested in joining, you're more than welcome. You won't have missed a beat (pun intended).

Our next Georgetown dance is also coming up! Join us Saturday, June 7 for a Waltz group lesson with Vito. We'll be serving up some delicious Summer-themed fare and dancing the night away!

On Saturday, June 21, Vito will be at Ballroom City. Get the details for that here.

See you soon!

This Week's Big News

It's a good week at Just Dance!

Vito's mother, Filomena Magrone, celebrates her 97th birthday today, March 14. Filomena was born in 1917 and shares Vito's love for dance. I stopped by yesterday to see her. Always alert and charming, she smiled as she listed her various family members who also had a passion for dance.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Celebrating a milestone like 97 years of life is impossible news to top. However... I do have a couple of other things I wanted to let you know before I sign off.

CONTINUITY FOXTROT STARTS THIS THURSDAY, MAY 15
You may recall, last week, we offered the opportunity to take Continuity Foxtrot to our dancers on Thursdays at 7:00pm. The response was YES! If you know basic Foxtrot and feel ready to take your ordinary box step to the next level, this is the class to join. If you're interested, you can call us, or simply stop on by the night of class. No pre-registration is required. You do not need a partner to join, couples and singles are welcome. Class is $13 pay-as-you-go or $10 per class if you sign up for the entire session. This class will run until the end of May (three weeks), and then we'll take a group vote to see if the dancers would like to continue Continuity Foxtrot in June.

VITO HOSTS AT BALLROOM CITY THIS SATURDAY NIGHT, MAY 17
Vito's monthly dance at Ballroom City is this weekend. He'll teach Cha Cha prior to the dance. Details are here.

May Class Schedule

The group class schedule for the month of May is out now!

FOXTROT:
Thursday Evenings in May at 7:00 PM at Georgetown West
Starts Thursday, May 1, 2014

Discover why Foxtrot is one of the most versatile and popular dances. From the Big Band era to the Rat Pack to Dancing With The Stars, Foxtrot’s flowing movement makes it eternally cool. During this four-week session, Vito Magrone will cover Foxtrot basics, teach stylish patterns and give technique tips that will make you look smooth and polished. He will make it easy and fun. No prior dance experience is necessary for this beginner class.

SAMBA:
Thursday Evenings in May at at 8:00 PM at Georgetown West
Starts Thursday, May 1, 2014
By popular demand! The students have spoken, and so Samba it is! Sultry, spicy, and fun! You will love everything about the Samba, from the steps to the Tropical feel of the music. We’ll start from the beginning and review. Then, we’ll move on from there. Dancers of every skill level are welcome.

ADVANCED CLASS:
Starts Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Experienced dancers, if you have never attended the advanced class on Tuesday nights, it truly is a gem. You really might want to consider stopping by. It's a wonderful, friendly group of dancers (many of whom you probably already know from the dance community), who have been coming to this class for years. Why? Quite simply, we're having a great time... and learning a great deal while we're at it. Because it is advanced, the class itself is truly a collaborative, creative effort. We take a vote at the beginning of each month, and the group decides which dance we'll work on. The material is Silver/Continuity and above. Vito teaches patterns and give each person individual attention. He focuses on technique to make you look great, and he doesn't move on until everyone is feeling comfortable. You'd have to ask the dancers, but I get the feeling everyone gets a ton out of this class. What could be better?

Fun and Games This Past Sautrday Night at Ballroom City

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.

It was the evening before Easter and the poor Easter Bunny was so very busy doing other things. So, we put bunny ears on Vito and made him the stand-in! Vito made an excellent Easter bunny subsitute - haha! Each guest received an egg. Some were filled with candy, others with slips of paper indicating a prize had been won.

Congratulations to our winners!

Vito taught a Rumba pattern prior to the dance. It was a fun night! Great to see all of the smiling faces.

Vito will be back at Ballroom City on Saturday, May 17 teaching Cha Cha.

Catch Spring Fever this Saturday

Vito will be at Ballroom City this Saturday night! Come and catch some much-needed Spring Fever. There may still be snow on the ground, but the beautiful Rumba pattern he'll teach prior to the dance will be HOT!

Rumor has it the Easter Bunny will have supplied some mystery prizes that we'll be giving out to our guests. It's going to be a lot of fun.

Hop on by!
